BOOK DESCRIPTION
In
this collection of short stories by author Simon Just
we find that things are not always as they seem. The
binding of the book, with its two-cover, flip-book format,
is our first hint. Once inside, the stories show us memories,
relationships, reality, even sleep, turned on-end and twisted
to an angle we rarely get the opportunity to view.
World,
Other
World, is an easy read with fourteen -
at times familiar, at times strange - stories. The stories
in the World side are general fiction and intriguing for any
reader. The Other World stories, though speculative fiction,
have characters and situations universal enough to make the
non-science-fiction reader comfortable.
This
collection would do well in the hands of those
with short attention spans, travelers who would like something
not too involving for plane trips, and those who wish they
could read more, but do not have the time for a large novel.
AUTHOR BIO
Born
in Philadelphia, Simon Just's family relocated to Virginia
when Simon was nine. This meant an adjustment from exploring
alleys and playing stoop ball to exploring the woods surrounding
their home and digging for diamonds in the coal field under an
old oak tree.
Raised
by a mother who said Simon may be an alien child and should
avoid any spacecrafts which beckoned, and a father who believed
strongly in mechanical ingenuity, the sense of contradictions
continued city/country, art/science. The format of this book,
addresses that duality.
